The Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov met with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss efforts to establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Their conversation addressed issues related to Europe's security, the continent's military potential, and progress in the peace negotiations.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelezkov confirmed that Bulgaria continues to support Ukraine's efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. His meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took place during the Sixth Summit of the European Political Community in Tirana.

During the conversation, Zhelezkov emphasized that the establishment of peace is a matter related to the security of the entire European continent and the way Europe will build its security and defense capabilities in the new geopolitical environment. He stressed the importance of strengthening Europe's industrial military potential as part of the structural guarantees for Ukraine, but also for Europe as a whole.

The progress of the peace negotiations was also discussed. Zhelezkov noted that the ceasefire is one of the necessary preconditions for achieving a clear and fair peace, both for Ukraine and for the tranquility of the European continent. He warned that setting preconditions could undermine the fragile hope at the beginning of the negotiations.

In his message on the social network X, President Zelenskyy thanked Bulgaria for its support, noting that they had discussed key priorities such as achieving a full and unconditional ceasefire, security guarantees, energy cooperation, and the development of bilateral relations. Zelenskyy emphasized that it is crucial for Ukraine to complete the construction of the Khmilnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, for which he is grateful to Bulgaria, as well as the joint work within the framework of the demining coalition, which is a matter of security for the entire Black Sea region.
