The fire service in Bulgaria responded to over 170 calls, extinguishing 124 fires, with no casualties. 19 of them caused damage.

Over the past 24 hours, Bulgarian firefighters have responded to over 170 calls for incidents across the country, managing to extinguish a total of 124 fires. This was announced by the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Civil Protection" (PBZHN) at the Ministry of Interior, providing updated data as of 6:00 a.m. this morning.

Despite the busy situation, the most important news is that no casualties or injuries were registered in any of the fires, which is a testament to the professionalism and quick response of the teams. A large part of the incidents occurred in open areas. Of the 124 fires extinguished, 105 were without material damage. Among these, 59 were in dry grasses, forest litter, and bushes, and one had engulfed stubble.

Unfortunately, 19 of the fires caused significant material damage, with seven of them affecting residential buildings. This underscores the constant danger that fires pose to people's homes and property.

In addition to fighting fires, PBZHN teams also participated in 40 rescue and assistance operations. Eight of these operations were at road accidents, where the quick intervention of firefighters was crucial for providing first aid and extricating trapped people. The work of rescue teams often remains in the shadows, but it is vital for ensuring public safety.

Despite the high efficiency of the services, the day did not pass without unjustified alarms. Seven false alarms were also registered, which unnecessarily engaged resources and diverted teams from real emergencies. This again raises the question of citizens' responsibility when reporting to emergency services.

Additional data from the report:

  • 170+ calls for incidents
  • 124 fires extinguished
  • 0 casualties or injuries
  • 105 fires without material damage
  • 19 fires with material damage (7 in residential buildings)
  • 40 rescue and assistance operations (8 at road accidents)
  • 7 false alarms
