Asen Vasilev, a Member of Parliament from "We Continue the Change," is calling for a full investigation into the scandal regarding the presence of patrons within DANS and has challenged the Prime Minister to clarify whether he has been informed about them. "I agree with Mr. Radev that we must get to the bottom of this scandal," Vasilev stated, adding that the situation is a clear indicator that "obviously, someone in DANS is protecting groups that are harming Bulgarian children."

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly, Vasilev questioned the role of the intelligence services, asking where DANS has been for the past three years and why signals from 2022 were not handed over to the prosecution. He drew a parallel between the current case and the incident involving neo-fascist groups in Plovdiv, where the agency possessed information but failed to take action. According to the MP, instead of uncovering crimes, DANS is likely protecting criminals whose activities harass and poison Bulgarian children.

Regarding the "Petrohan" case and the potential withdrawal of support for Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, Vasilev categorically rejected the allegations. He pointed out that the mayor does not possess the necessary official powers to provide such patronage. "The person in a position to provide patronage is the head of DANS and the one who appointed him – that is where we must look to find who allowed all of this to happen right under the nose of the services," he stated.

Vasilev reminded that Plamen Tonchev has held the post of head of DANS since 2021 as a personal appointment by Rumen Radev. He recalled that the President refused to replace Tonchev when Acad. Denkov requested a change of leadership, and now Tonchev has been appointed for a second term. The MP linked the current situation to previous scandalous cases, including the saga of presidential pardons, in which five individuals were released under controversial circumstances.

Regarding these pardons, Vasilev called for transparency and direct explanations: "We want Ms. Yotova to explain very clearly why she issued these pardons, why, out of all the sick criminals, she chose specifically the drug dealer and the drug trafficker, and why five out of 28 pardons are related to drug distribution." He concluded by reminding that in 2019, Yotova herself had stated that she would show no mercy to criminals involved in drug-related offenses."
