On June 20, Burgas and the region will enjoy sunny, warm, and almost quiet weather with pleasant sea temperatures and good conditions for the beach, while most of the country will experience summer weather with local afternoon showers and stable temperatures.

On June 20, the weather in Bulgaria will be typically summer-like – with a sunny morning, high daytime temperatures, and only in isolated places, the development of cumulus clouds with brief afternoon showers. Data from weather models and operational forecasts indicate a stabilization of the atmosphere, with dry and warm weather prevailing over most of the country.

Weather in Burgas and the region

In Burgas on June 20, another pleasant summer day is expected, suitable for both the beach and city walks. In the morning, temperatures will be around 16–17°C, and in the afternoon, maximum values will reach about 25–27°C, with the highest air temperatures expected between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The forecast for the day is for sunny weather with mostly clear skies for the greater part of the day.

Cloudiness will be insignificant – mostly high and wispy, and in the evening, a mostly cloudy sky may appear temporarily over the city, without significant precipitation. The probability of rain in Burgas and the coastal zone remains low, around 10–20%, and the amounts, should a brief local rain occur in the interior of the region, will be minimal.

According to the detailed hourly forecasts for Burgas, at 9:00 AM the temperature will be around 23°C, in the afternoon around 3:00 PM it will reach about 27°C, and in the evening around 9:00 PM it will drop to about 23°C, while maintaining comfortable outdoor conditions.

The wind in Burgas and along the coast will be light to moderate, with a dominant direction from the northeast to east. In the morning hours, its speed will be around 2–3 m/s, and during the day it will reach about 4–5 m/s, without significant gusts. This will create a slightly refreshing feeling along the coastline without causing heavy seas.

The seawater temperature in the water area near Burgas for June 20 is expected to be around 21–22°C, in accordance with the average values for the second half of June. The sheltered Burgas Bay usually maintains seawater 1–2 degrees warmer compared to the open sections to the north, which makes swimming more comfortable, especially in the afternoon hours.

The sea state near Burgas will be slight – around 1–2 degrees (on the Douglas sea scale), with no expectation of a sudden increase during the day. The combination of warm air, pleasant seawater temperature, and light wind allows for a preliminary assessment of the swimming conditions on Burgas beaches on June 20 – green flag. This means the sea is suitable for swimming and water activities, while it is always recommended to follow the lifeguards' instructions and avoid entering the sea after alcohol consumption or in cases of severe overheating.

Weather conditions in the rest of the country

Sofia and the region

In Sofia and the capital region, June 20 will be a pleasant summer day with predominantly sunny weather. Minimum temperatures in the capital will be around 15–16°C, and maximums will reach about 26–27°C. The morning will start with clear skies, and during the day, isolated cumulus clouds will form, more so over the surrounding mountains.

The probability of brief afternoon showers in the Sofia field remains low to moderate – around 20–30%, and if showers develop, they will be local and short-lived. The wind will be light, mostly from the northwest or west, with speeds around 2–4 m/s, creating a feeling of comfortable, not stuffy weather. In the Sofia area, there are no marine water areas, and a flag rating does not apply.

Eastern and Western Bulgaria

In Western Bulgaria (Northwest, Southwest, and the central western regions), June 20 will pass with typical early summer weather – sunny until noon, with the development of cumulus clouds in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures in cities such as Vidin, Montana, Pleven, Vratsa, Kyustendil, and Blagoevgrad will range between 26 and 28°C. In isolated places, mainly in the southwestern mountain basins, there is a 30–40% probability of brief showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

In Eastern Bulgaria (Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Yambol, Shumen, Razgrad, Dobrich), the weather will be more stable, with plenty of sun for most of the day. Maximum temperatures will reach 27–29°C, and the probability of precipitation is lower – around 10–20%, mainly around the northern slopes of the Balkan Mountains. The wind in the eastern regions will be light to moderate, most often northeasterly, with speeds around 4–6 m/s, and in more open places – up to 7–8 m/s.

In the interior of the country, there is no sea swimming, but caution is recommended when vacationing near dams and rivers: the water remains cooler than sea water, and currents and depths are often underestimated by vacationers.

Weather in the mountains

On June 20, the mountains will offer good conditions for tourism, especially in the first half of the day. At an altitude of around 1200 m, maximum temperatures are expected to be around 18–20°C, and at about 2000 m – around 11–13°C. In the morning, the sky will be mostly clear, but around and after noon over the Rila, Pirin, Balkan, and Rhodope mountains, cumulus cloudiness will develop.

The probability of afternoon brief showers in the mountains is about 40–50%, and in isolated places, the precipitation may be accompanied by thunderstorms. The wind on the ridges will be moderate, from the north or northwest, with speeds around 5–8 m/s, and in the highest open parts – with gusts up to 10–12 m/s. There are no organized sea swimming zones in the mountains, and swimming in mountain lakes is not recommended due to low water temperatures and the risk of hypothermia.

Black Sea coast

Along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, June 20 will be another summer day with good conditions for marine tourism. In the northern part (the regions of Varna, Balchik, Kavarna, Shabla), maximum air temperatures will be around 24–26°C, and minimums in the morning – around 17–18°C. In the southern part (Burgas, Nesebar, Sunny Beach, Sozopol, Primorsko, Tsarevo), maximum values will reach 25–27°C, with minimums around 18–19°C.

The seawater temperature will remain relatively cool along the Northern Black Sea coast – around 19–21°C, while along the Southern coast, including the Burgas area, it will be around 21–22°C. The sea will be relatively calm, with a sea state of about 1–2 degrees, which creates good conditions for swimming and water sports.

The probability of precipitation along the coast on June 20 is low – around 10–20%, mainly for brief, local showers, which are more likely to affect the country's interior than the beach zones themselves. The wind will be light to moderate from the northeast, with speeds around 4–7 m/s, with temporary gusts up to 8–9 m/s on open capes and beaches.

Overall, the conditions for swimming along the Black Sea coast on June 20 can be defined as favorable – a green flag is expected for most beaches. In the event of a local increase in wind or the appearance of stronger currents in isolated sections, lifeguards may temporarily switch to a yellow flag, especially in the afternoon hours. Tourists should monitor the signaling and comply with the instructions of lifeguards and local authorities.
