Journalist Georgi Milkov and Tanya Mihaylova, director of the foreign ministry's Diplomatic Institute, will present their book "The Libyan Case: All Diplomatic Means" in Burgas. The event takes place on Thursday, October 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Hotel and Spa Primoretz, and entry is free.

The two authors tell the story of the hostage drama involving Bulgarian medics in Libya through declassified archives. The book includes 48 official diplomatic exchanges, notes and internal reports that stayed out of public reach for a long time.

Milkov and Mihaylova try to answer why the Bulgarians were the ones arrested, when the world came to accept they were innocent, and how their release finally happened. The documents show how decisions were made between Sofia and Tripoli, Brussels, Paris and Washington, what Bulgarian diplomats did together with international partners, and how the talks with the Libyan side unfolded.

Behind the official language lie strategies, doubts and human stories. The fight played out not only in public but also in negotiating rooms and diplomatic corridors.

At the Burgas event, the authors will take questions from the audience and sign copies of the book.

The presentation is part of the ninth Port Prim Art Fest, organized by the Grand Hotel and Spa Primoretz with support from Burgas council. The festival backs Burgas's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2032.
