Port Prim Art Fest in Burgas continues today, 9 October, with a film and a book about Leda Taseva, short films and the concert "Classical Music Meets Jazz and Tango" at the NHK Culture House. Yesterday, the second day of the festival, the three events drew large audiences. See our original report: Book on Bulgarian medics' Libya ordeal, with 48 declassified files, comes to Burgas.
This follows our report of 28 September on the book "The Libyan Case: All Diplomatic Means", when we said the edition of 48 declassified files was coming to Burgas.
At 5.30pm at Grand Hotel and Spa Primorets, Georgi Toshev will present the book "Leda and the Words" and the documentary "The Riddle of Leda Taseva" to mark 100 years since the actress was born. Entry is free.
A new selection from the international short film festival "Karantinata" will be shown at the Morsko Casino Cultural Centre from 6pm to 7.30pm. All films have Bulgarian subtitles. Entry is free.
The concert "Classical Music Meets Jazz and Tango" starts at 7.30pm at the NHK Culture House. The world-famous musicians Mario Hossen (violin), Christina Miller (piano), Klaudiusz Baran (bandoneon) and Michal Nagy (guitar) will perform with friends. The programme includes music by Niccolò Paganini, Astor Piazzolla and Oscar Peterson. Tickets are on sale at the "Chasovnika" box office and on Eventim.bg.
The launch of the book on the Libyan case in the Primorets hall drew hundreds of people yesterday. Journalist Georgi Milkov, who covered the case as a correspondent for the daily 24 Chasa, told personal stories from his meetings with the medics and their accounts of torture. Tanya Mihaylova, director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Foreign Ministry, spoke about Bulgaria's diplomatic efforts. The two authors gave details, not known until then, about the detention and release of the Bulgarian medics in Libya, a case that lasted 8 years.
At Morsko Casino, the audience watched feature, experimental and animated films from the international selection of the Varna festival "Karantinata", whose director is Georgi Krastev. The festival has been a guest at Port Prim Art Fest for the ninth year in a row.
The high point of the evening was the show "The Airship in Love" by the Drama Theatre in Plovdiv, which the audience sent off with a long standing ovation. The play tells of the world of the poets Ivan Metodiev, Dobromir Tonev, Miryana Basheva and Grisha Trifonov, and combines acting, music, multimedia and stage design. Diana Dobreva adapted it for the stage and directed it, and Alexander Sekulov wrote the music and texts. The show won the Askeer and Ikar awards in 2026.
Grand Hotel and Spa Primorets organises the festival with support from Burgas council. The festival backs the city's bid to be European Capital of Culture 2032. It runs until 10 October, and the organisers invite Burgas residents and visitors to come for its last days.
