Carousel Festival in Burgas: Street Art and Cultural Exchange

The oldest street art festival in Burgas, "Carousel" (Carousel), is once again taking over the city, marking its fourteenth edition at the end of the summer. The event, which has become a tradition for the seaside city, is the result of the joint efforts of the cultural and youth foundation "Astika", volunteers from the "European Solidarity Corps" program, and the Municipality of Burgas, which provides its unconditional support.

This year the festival stands out with an especially strong international presence. The program has been enriched with creative and innovative ideas, inspired by young people from Bulgaria and Turkey. This collaboration transforms "Carousel" into a platform for cultural exchange, where young talents present their visions for contemporary art and culture.

The center of Burgas, with its lively streets and squares, has been transformed into an open-air stage for the festival events, which take place every evening from 6 PM. The program offers a variety of interactive workshops that attract both children and adults. Among them are:

  • Art workshop for making masks out of cardboard;
  • "Medusa" Panel - made from seashells;
  • Exquisite ebru applications, presenting traditional Turkish techniques.

The festive atmosphere unfolds at various landmark locations in the city. On August 27, the central "Troykata" square witnessed a captivating flash mob that gathered dozens of people, enchanted by the rhythm and energy of the dancers. The next day, August 28, in the heart of the Sea Garden, the mythical theater "Şahmaran" was presented, turning the open-air stage "Sandglass" into a magical place. The culmination on August 29 was at the Regional Library - Burgas, where the event "From Anatolia to Burgas" turned intercultural meetings into a true feast for the senses, combined with interesting culinary tastes, reflecting the richness of Turkish cuisine.

The "Carousel" festival continues to be one of the brightest events in the cultural calendar of Burgas, as it not only offers entertainment and art, but also affirms its role as a bridge between different cultures and generations. The events attracted numerous audiences who enjoyed the artistic performances under the warm summer sun. The multitude of people who filled the festival locations were a visible manifestation of the success of the event, which every year continues to build on and surprise its audience with original ideas and creative initiatives.
