Burgas kicks off its Autumn Literary Festival today, with events running until October 30. Admission is free for all events.

Things get under way at 6pm at the Writers' House, 1 Vola Street. Lyudmil Stanev is the special guest at the opening, hosted by Nikolay Fenerski. Stanev will also take part in a meet-the-author event at the same venue on October 2.

Most events are held at the Writers' House, with others at the P.K. Yavorov Regional Library and the Morsko Kazino culture centre. Events start at 6pm, with three exceptions: on October 14 and 17 they begin at 6:30pm, and on October 26 at 5:30pm.

On October 5, Violeta Voeva reads from her poetry collection "Wings for Recognition". On October 6, the Morski Raci club holds a "Night of Smiles" with Mihail Veshim and his book "The Chemistry of a Joke". Slavi Tomov presents Katharina Adler's novel "Ida" on October 7. October 8 brings the premiere of "Dragon Houses", in which children — who are themselves the authors of both the stories and the illustrations — tell tales from the Strandzha region; Vili Koleva wrote the script and hosts. At the library on October 9, Professor Rositsa Yordanova speaks on "Creativity in Artistic Experimentation", introduced by Mitko Novkov.

Roza Maksimova presents Alexander Kulik's novel "On Vinyl" on October 12, and on October 13 Professor Kalina Lukova presents Tatyana Yotova's short-story collection "While I Waited for You". At the library on October 14, Vanyo Valchev and the Library Bulgaria publishing house present Yana Valcheva's "Do You Remember…". On October 15, Roza Boyanova presents Vili Koleva's poetry collection "A Place for a Sunny House", and October 16 brings a Poetry Evening hosted by Natalia Nedyalkova and Diana Fartunova. On October 17 at Morsko Kazino, "Poetic Exchanges: The Untouched Worlds and Bright Apocalypses of Ina Ivanova and Diana Savateva" takes place.

On October 19, Georgi N. Nikolov presents Dimitar Hristov's poetry collection "An Archaeology of Love". On October 20, Parush Parushev presents "Profiles — Near and Far", and on October 21 he presents "Studies in Pen and Brush", poems and drawings by Diana Fartunova. On October 22, the Academician Konstantin Petkanov hall at the Regional Library marks the 80th anniversary of Toma Binchev's birth with "On Summer's Brow, the Same Sign: Life Is Good!", presented by Dr Dobrina Topalova and hosted by Elka Vasileva.

Irina Papancheva runs three days of "Literary Salons" at the Writers' House on October 23, 24 and 25. On October 26 at 5:30pm comes Boyan Yordanov's book "Under a Moon as Huge as a Pumpkin", winner of the Novel of the Year award.

October 27 brings two events. At the Writers' House, the Science Fiction Club and the Salty Winds association present Yancho Cholakov's collection "Covid Ward", which tells the story of the pandemic through personal experience. At the Regional Library, the Libra Scorp publishing house holds a meeting with Dencho Mihov and his book "Literary Meridians: What's Being Written Here and Now".

On October 28, Nikolay Fenerski presents the prose of Václav Pankovčín, and on October 29 Professor Kalina Lukova and Associate Professor Sofia Angelova present Kalina Telyanova's poems "A Wing's Distance Away". The final day, October 30, is given over to the presentation of the magazine "More" ("Sea").
