Burgas students triumph at the first beach volleyball tournament
Students from the Trade High School and the Goethe National English High School won the first places among the boys and girls at the debut student beach volleyball tournament held in Burgas. The competition brought together teams from 13 schools and was organized by the Municipal Enterprise International Youth Cultural Center-Burgas and the Beach Volley Burgas club.
Burgas marked 149 years since the death of Hristo Botev.
The residents of Burgas honored the memory of Hristo Botev and those who perished for the liberation of Bulgaria with a solemn ceremony, including a military ritual, a requiem prayer, and the laying of wreaths and flowers at the monument of the revolutionary.
Preventive measures against mosquitoes in the area of Lake Vaya
The Regional Health Inspectorate announces upcoming mosquito control activities in the Lake Vaya area from June 3 to June 6, 2025. Young artists from five countries were awarded in a literary competition against drugs in Burgas.
The International Literary Competition "Art Against Drugs" Burgas 2025 recognized 12 authors aged 14 to 25 years old, and nominated 6 more for participation in the traditional anthology. The competition is organized by the Community Center "Lyuben Karavelov 1940" in partnership with the Union of Bulgarian Teachers Burgas and under the auspices of the regional governor.

Student plein air "Lora's Sunny Palette" gathered talented children at the Flora Expo Center, who painted, colored clay figurines, and enjoyed musical performances. At a ceremony in Burgas, Minister Georg Georgiev presented an award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the winners in the "Video Story" category of the International Student Literature and Film Competition "Whoever Saves One Human Life, Saves the Entire Universe". From June 2, repair work will begin on separate sections of the Struma Motorway in the Sofia and Kyustendil regions. The mayor of Burgas who saved Jewish families during World War II
The mayor of Burgas, Dr. Dyanko Parvchev, opposed the deportation order for Jewish families during World War II. He managed to stop the deportation by contacting other mayors and influential people in Sofia. Today, a memorial plaque marks the place where this hero lived and worked, who was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Burgas".
French Erasmus+ students get acquainted with innovative practices in Bulgarian schools
A group of six students from the University of Pau, France, visited the Municipality of Burgas as part of their teaching internship under the "Erasmus+" program. They met with representatives of the local administration and observed lessons in Bulgarian educational institutions to exchange good practices and get acquainted with advanced teaching methods.
Night cleaning of the "Golemo Buchino" tunnel on the "Struma" motorway restricts traffic.
On June 2, for a few hours during the night, traffic will be restricted in the tube for Sofia of the "Golemo Buchino" tunnel on the "Struma" highway. The aim is to clean the walls and road surface of the facility, with the activities being carried out during the period of less traffic to facilitate traffic.
