The Association of Spanish-Speaking Journalists in Bulgaria (AISJB) awarded on December 8, within the framework of the 13th edition of the "Worlds and Colors" competition, the special award "Unifiers of Cultures" to Assoc. Prof. Boris Naymushin from New Bulgarian University.

The award is for his contribution to revealing important facts about the establishment of cooperation between the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) and "Prensa Latina" in 1960, as well as the role of Stella Avishai.

Thanks to the research efforts of Assoc. Prof. Boris Naymushin and the BTA archives, the answer to the question of who was the Bulgarian journalist who met and spoke in Havana in 1960 with the legendary Ernesto Che Guevara was found. It turned out that it was Stella Avishai (1923-2013), at that time deputy general director of BTA.

The "Worlds and Colors" competition has been held annually since 2013 by the AISJB in partnership with the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ) and Roca-Bulgaria. It recognizes journalistic publications and programs in Bulgarian or Spanish that bring Bulgaria and the Spanish-speaking world closer together.

The competition is in memory of the journalists of the AISJB - Svetlana Plashokova-Miteva (1963-2012) and Samuel Frances (1940-2012), with two of the awards in the competition bearing their names.

The AISJB also awards the special awards "Unifiers of Cultures", which are awarded to journalists, artists and intellectuals for their overall contribution to bringing the cultures of Bulgaria and the Spanish-speaking world closer together.
