Bulgarian volunteers at the center of the global humanitarian movement

Representatives of the Municipal Organization of the BRC-Nesebar, led by Violeta Radeva, wrote Bulgaria's name in golden letters at the annual event in Solferino, Italy. They were the only invited representatives from our country, a recognition of their undeniable contribution and two consecutive years of taking first place in national volunteering rankings.

"Our representatives walked the path of hope together with 6,000 volunteers from all over the world, symbolizing the unity and power of humanity."

The historical legacy of Solferino

The event is not just a meeting, but a tribute to history. It all began in 1859 when Henry Dunant witnessed the horror after the Battle of Solferino. His reaction laid the foundations of the international Red Cross movement:

Candles in the night: A symbol of solidarity

The culmination of the visit was the historic torchlight procession, which traveled 2 km to Castiglione delle Stiviere. Every lit candle in the hands of the volunteers from Nesebar became a symbol of the hope and empathy that continue to guide volunteers around the world today in tackling modern challenges.
