A new stage in bilateral relations
Bulgaria's Ambassador to Ukraine, Zlatin Krastev, has officially begun his mission by presenting copies of his credentials to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleksandr Mishchenko. The event took place less than 24 hours after his arrival in Kyiv.
"It was a great honor for me to present my credentials as the first Bulgarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine after a 4.5-year hiatus," Krastev shared on social media.
Key priorities
During the meeting, strategic topics for the development of relations between the two countries were discussed:
- Revitalization of political dialogue;
- Deepening of economic relations;
- Transport and energy connectivity;
- Exchange of experience in the field of defense innovation.
Who is Zlatin Krastev?
Zlatin Krastev is a career diplomat with extensive experience, including at Bulgaria's permanent delegation to NATO. Prior to his current appointment, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense.
His appointment marks the end of a period during which Bulgaria did not have an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Kyiv (since the end of 2022), with the diplomatic mission being led by chargés d'affaires.
