Animal Hope Foundation Varna is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to raise public awareness against animal cruelty and provide assistance to stray animals in the city of Varna. The foundation's team consists entirely of volunteers united by the desire to create a life without pain for the stray animals in Varna.
The organization works tirelessly to provide veterinary care for injured and sick animals, temporary shelters, microchipping, sterilization, vaccination, deworming, and finding responsible new owners who can give them a permanent home, care, and love. When they cannot find suitable adopters in Bulgaria, the foundation collaborates with volunteers from other countries to place the animals in homes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, England, and Italy.
To prevent the animals from returning to the street, all potential adopters are required to fill out a questionnaire, provide information about themselves, and sign a contract upon adoption. The foundation does not allow the animals to be used as guard dogs, chained, or as mouse traps fed with waste, but only as pets treated as family members.
Since all members of the organization are volunteers, the funds for the assistance they provide are collected entirely from donations. The foundation does not receive state aid and often owes hundreds of levs to the veterinary clinics in Varna, with which it has signed contracts for preferential prices and conditions for the treatment of stray animals. Donation boxes are also placed in these clinics, where anyone can contribute to the treatment of animals in need.
