At a significant moment for the Belene municipality, a modern cultural and information tourist center was officially presented, which combines the efforts of local authorities, state institutions, and the business community. The new acquisition reveals the potential of the region through a specially designed exhibition hall dedicated to the historical and natural wealth of the territory.
During the ceremonial opening, Minister Miroslav Borshosh emphasized the strategic importance of such initiatives for the development of sustainable tourism. "The success of a destination lies in the synergy between different stakeholders," he said, highlighting the need for collective efforts to valorize local resources.
Among the attractions that the new center will showcase are landmarks such as Persina Nature Park - second most significant in the Danube basin, the ancient Roman fortress Dimum, the Catholic sanctuary of Evgeny Bosilkov, and the Memorial Park on Persin Island. These sites have the potential to attract lasting tourist interest in the region.
Mayor Milen Dulev expressed confidence that the center will become a hub of knowledge and inspiration that will present the authentic face of Belene. He emphasized the importance of the local community as a driver of tourism development.
The Ministry of Tourism demonstrated a concrete commitment to regional development by presenting a special award to 16-year-old Hristian Arabadzhiev for his contribution to promoting tourist routes along the Danube. Arabadzhiev impressed by covering a 55-kilometer route in less than four hours as part of the "Persina by Bicycle" initiative.
During the visit, future strategic projects were also discussed, including opportunities to restore the camp on Persin Island as a tourist destination. Minister Borshosh emphasized that regions are the backbone of tourism diversity and they create authentic experiences.
The key message of the event was that tourism is not just an economic activity, but a mechanism for social development. Through targeted investments and partnerships, conditions can be created to retain young people in the regions and stimulate the local economy.
The new tourist center in Belene is a practical example of an integrated approach to regional development that combines cultural heritage, innovative solutions, and public engagement.
