Exhibition by Stefan Georgiev at _Bogoridi_ Gallery in Burgas

BURGAS, Bulgaria — One of the most anticipated cultural events in the city this evening is the opening of a solo exhibition by the prominent Bulgarian artist Stefan Georgiev. Georgiev, born on June 24, 1954, in the old capital city of Veliko Tarnovo, is an established name in the Bulgarian art scene. His artistic journey began after graduating from the Kazanlak School of Arts, and he later specialized in fine arts at the St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo. Since 1979, he has dedicated himself to painting and illustration, becoming one of the most recognizable masters in these fields.

The artist has numerous successful solo and group exhibitions to his name, showcasing his art not only in Bulgaria but also in countries like Germany and Turkey. One of the most significant chapters in his biography is the period between 2000 and 2014, when he lived and worked in Athens. During these years, Georgiev actively participated in the initiatives of the Hellenic Union of Artists and left a lasting mark on the local culture, illustrating 28 children's books for leading Greek publishers. This experience enriched his style and made it even more diverse and comprehensive.

Stefan Georgiev is known for his innovative approach and experimentation with mixed media. He skillfully combines acrylic paste, gold and silver foils, collages, acrylic, and oil paints to create works with deep texture and plasticity. According to critics, "his work impresses with rich texture, plasticity, and a strong visual contrast". The process of creating each canvas is particularly specific – the surface is manually worked with a palette knife before the fine color accents are applied. This technique not only gives the paintings a unique relief but also emphasizes their philosophical and emotional depth, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the artist's world.

The exhibition at the Bogorodii Gallery promises to be a true feast for the senses.
