Additional teams from the “Gendarmerie” Directorate will assist their colleagues from the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR) and the Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Interior (OD of the Ministry of Interior) in maintaining public order in the days around the upcoming holidays, the Ministry of Interior website reports.

In Sofia, in addition to the traditional presence in the city, additional patrols have been provided to support the forces of order in the area of the Central Railway Station, Christmas bazaars and large shopping centers and the airport.

Additional teams have also been directed to four other major cities – Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo. They will work mainly in places where large gatherings of people are expected – markets, large commercial and transport centers.

There will also be a presence of the gendarmerie on the highways. The teams will assist their colleagues from the OD of the Ministry of Interior in carrying out traffic control today and tomorrow. Patrols are also planned for the pre-holiday and holiday days, the announcement states.

Yesterday, the SDVR announced that they are deploying additional teams at the entry and exit road arteries in Sofia and around the shopping centers during the holidays.
