Bulgaria's Euro Dream: The Health Sector at the Forefront of Historical Change

RAZGRAD – Against the backdrop of the intensifying national information campaign for the introduction of the euro, Minister of Health Silvi Kirilov delivered a powerful speech in Razgrad that resonated as a promise of stability and prosperity. The meeting, part of the large-scale initiative, drew the attention of local residents, who listened to the minister's words outlining the country's new path. In an atmosphere of lively discussion, the minister confirmed that his department is working with exceptional intensity and "in full transparency" to fulfill the national priorities related to joining the eurozone.

The Road to the Eurozone: A Culmination of Efforts and Hopes

The introduction of the single European currency, according to Minister Kirilov, is not merely a technical act but the culmination of a long and challenging journey. It is "a historic step in the development of our country" that changes direction, promising stability, prosperity, and the affirmation of national authority. The minister emotionally emphasized that the euro is much more than an economic measure. It is the realization of "the long-held dream of thousands of Bulgarians for a secure and dignified life", shared by over 400 million European citizens.

The adoption of the euro is also a clear sign of the trust of member states in Bulgaria—an achievement that, according to the minister, is both "a huge success and recognition for our thousand-year-old nation", and a serious responsibility towards the principles and goals of the Union.

Guarantees for Citizens and Transparency in the Sector

The Ministry of Health, led by Minister Kirilov, is in the process of active preparation to ensure a smooth transition of the healthcare system to the new currency. To protect citizens and professionals, the department is implementing strict measures for awareness, accessibility, and effectiveness, in full compliance with legal provisions. As part of these efforts, a special mobile application, Medicine Price, has been developed. It gives users the ability to check the maximum prices of medicines in both BGN and EUR, preventing any speculative practices.

Minister Kirilov reassured those present that citizens can be "completely calm" that the changes will not lead to unjustified price increases. He assured that "strict regulation and tight control" of medicine prices are guaranteed to prevent illegal practices. "We have developed mechanisms for predictability and stability of costs for medicinal products", he stressed.

Thanks to these efforts, according to the minister, Bulgaria is fully ready for the introduction of the euro in the health sector—an achievement that makes us "proud and full members of the great European family".

United Efforts for a Common Goal

The national information campaign is a coordinated project involving key institutions such as the Ministry of Finance, the Bulgarian National Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Commission for Consumer Protection, the National Revenue Agency, the Financial Supervision Commission, and the National Social Security Institute. Their common goal is to provide the public with clear, detailed, and reliable information about all key stages and deadlines of the euro adoption process.
