Zero millimeters of rain on the last dry day before showers
Zero millimeters of rain are expected in Burgas on Sunday. The day is dry, with broken cloud cover, and showers arrive from Monday. That makes it a good day for a walk, doing laundry on the balcony, gathering leaves in the yard and washing windows. Thermometers show 18 degrees in the morning, about two more than on Saturday, and the night chill is barely felt.
The sun rises at 07:17, the clouds break up further toward noon, and at 2 p.m. the thermometer reaches 25 degrees. Humidity then drops to 42 percent, the air is dry and the warmth doesn't feel heavy, without the sticky summer mugginess. At 8 p.m. it is 20 degrees with humidity around 47 percent, and the sun sets at 18:36. The daylight lasts 11 hours and 19 minutes, four minutes shorter than yesterday.
East wind of about 14 km/h from the sea
The wind is easterly, about 14 km/h, and comes from the sea, so along the Seafront Promenade, on the Bridge and around the Port it is fresher than in "Izgrev" or "Meden Rudnik". The further inland you go, the calmer it is. You won't need an umbrella or a scarf, but for a long walk by the water it is a good idea to take a thin long-sleeved top.
Cranes, pelicans and birds of prey over Atanasovsko Lake and Vaya
The Burgas lakes lie on the Via Pontica, the second-largest migratory route in Europe. In October, cranes, pelicans and birds of prey such as buzzards pass over the city, flying south along the coast. Large birds don't like flying over the sea and rise on warm air over the land. A dry and warm afternoon with a light wind like today's helps them, so between noon and 4 p.m. there is the greatest chance of seeing flocks high above the lakes.
A good spot is the embankment carrying the road to Sunny Beach across Atanasovsko Lake. There, pink flamingos and avocets often stand in the salt pans. At Vaya, look from the direction of Dolno Ezerovo, where the pelicans rest on the water. Bring binoculars, and if you will be standing outdoors for long during the midday hours, a hat and sunglasses too, because the ultraviolet index is 4. At this index skin burns in about an hour, so it is a good idea to have sunscreen in your bag.
A T-shirt for lunch, a jacket for after sunset
The morning is 18 degrees, the evening 20, and at midday 25. A T-shirt under a light windbreaker or vest is the most comfortable choice for the whole Sunday. Children at the playgrounds in the Sea Garden will spend lunchtime in short sleeves, but after 18:30 they will need something with sleeves.
For running and cycling it is most pleasant in the morning between 8 and 10 o'clock or after 5 p.m., when the heat subsides and the sea air cools things down. The bike lane to Sarafovo and the path along Vaya are dry.
The asphalt is dry all day. Anyone heading home in the afternoon along "Trakia" toward Sofia will be driving into the low sun in the west around 6 p.m., so it is a good idea to keep sunglasses at hand and the windshield clean. In the morning the same applies to the road to Sozopol and Pomorie, when the sun is low in the east.
On Monday, heavy showers are expected, about 4 mm of rain, a west wind up to 13 km/h and a temperature from 14 to 25 degrees.
