In 2025 on This Date 15 Degrees and Rain, Today Sun and up to 20

A year ago on 4 October Burgas was in jackets. In the morning the thermometers showed 8 degrees, at noon barely 15, and during the day 3 mm of rain fell. Five years earlier, in 2021, it was much milder, between 12 and 20 degrees and not a drop. The warmest 4 October in the archive is from 2006, when the mercury reached 25 degrees. Today the city is midway between these extremes: a Sunday without rain, with broken clouds and a light wind from the east.

10 Degrees and Dew on the Grass at 8 in the Morning

The sun rises at 07:10 and at 8 o'clock the sky is clear, but the air is cold, 10 degrees. Humidity is 89 percent, so the grass in the Sea Garden and in the neighbourhood parks will be wet with dew, and cars parked outside will have droplets on them. For plants this is good news. After three dry days, dew is the only moisture reaching the lawns, and no watering is needed in the morning. Anyone heading out early for a run along the seaside promenade or to the market should put on a jacket, around 9 o'clock it is still chilly.

20 Degrees at Noon, Humidity 42 Percent and UV 5

Around 14:00 it gets warmest, 20 degrees under a clear sky, feeling like up to 19. Humidity drops to 42 percent and the air is dry. Of the 12 hours of daylight, 11 will be sunny, and the UV index is 5. For October that is quite a lot, the face catches colour after two hours outdoors, so a hat for the children on the playgrounds is not superfluous. For gardens, the dry afternoon means the soil dries out quickly. There has been no rain for three days, and today the chance of precipitation is zero from morning to evening. The pots on the terraces, the newly planted trees along the streets and the roses in the yards need watering, but in the evening, not at midday, when the water evaporates and the sun scorches the leaves. The chrysanthemums are blooming, and the lindens and chestnuts along "Bogoridi" and in the Sea Garden are already shedding their leaves. The grass is still growing at 20 degrees and can be mowed one more time before winter.

Easterly Wind 11 km/h, the Sea Calms to 60 cm Waves

After two days of north-easterly wind, which on Friday and Saturday blew at 19 to 21 km/h and gusted to 40 and 46, today it is much calmer. The wind comes from the east at about 11 km/h, at most up to 24 in gusts at the Bridge and on the beach. The easterly wind in Burgas brings air from the sea, so along the shore it will be a degree or two cooler than in the centre, but without the draught of the previous days. Waves are up to 60 cm, the water is around 21 degrees, warmer than the air in the morning and almost the same as it at noon. Those who are used to it can go in after 13:00, but getting out of the water will be chilly and a dry T-shirt is a must. In the evening at 20:00 it is 17 degrees under a clear sky with humidity at 62 percent. Sunset is at 18:46.

A Sunday for the Sea Garden, for the Bike and for the Spade in the Yard

Dress in layers: a jacket or thick sweatshirt until 10 o'clock, a long-sleeved T-shirt at noon, the jacket again after 18:00. Running and cycling are most pleasant between 9 and 11 o'clock, when it is 13 to 17 degrees and the wind is light. A walk along the Bridge or in the Sea Garden works all day long, the air is clean, the quality index is 32, which means good. Drivers are on dry roads, but the low sun before sunset will shine straight into the eyes on the road to Aytos and Sredets after 18:00. Anyone with a yard, today is the day for planting tulip and hyacinth bulbs, the soil is dry and warm, and watering should be left for after 19:00.
