The automotive giant Mercedes-Benz announced the start of field tests of its hydrogen truck GenH2 Truck. In September 2023, the zero-emission vehicle prototype successfully covered 1,047 km on a single charge of liquid hydrogen, confirmed by the independent TÜV Rheinland.
The tests are being conducted in partnership with leading companies such as Amazon, Air Products, Holcim, INEOS, and Wiedmann & Winz in Germany. Liquid hydrogen (sLH₂) supplied by Linde is used to recharge the truck, with the process taking only 10-15 minutes.
These trials are part of Mercedes-Benz's strategy to introduce zero-emission trucks by 2039, with the company relying on a combination of electric and hydrogen technologies.
