Scammers impersonate police officers and bank employees to extract personal and financial information from their victims. These manipulative schemes are gaining momentum, but there are ways to protect ourselves.
Here is the English translation:
Users are increasingly receiving calls from individuals who claim to be police officers or bank employees. Their goal is to extract personal and financial information in order to damage their credit history and rob their victims.
The fraudulent scenario begins with a call from a fake police officer who reports that someone has attempted to take out a loan in your name or withdraw funds from your savings. He claims to be filling out a report and requires data on bank accounts, balances, and personal documents. Subsequently, a fake bank employee calls you and instructs you to withdraw your money from the account in order to hand it over to the "police officer" or transfer it to a "protected" account.
The calls are presented as coming from Bulgarian phone numbers, including those of real institutions. The scammers speak convincingly and competently, and sometimes even a fake prosecutor is involved to increase the pressure. They assure that they are acting in your best interest and that you must act urgently and confidentially.
It is important not to trust such claims, especially when you are asked to dispose of your funds. In such a call, you should remain calm, end the conversation, and contact your bank directly to verify the information. Do not provide personal data and immediately report it to 112 or the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Vigilance and attentiveness are the key to not becoming a victim of this insidious fraud.
