The initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of Burgas, the Burgas Art Gallery "Petko Zadgorski," and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in the German capital. It aims to honor Baev's contribution to Bulgarian fine arts and support Burgas' candidacy for the European Capital of Culture in 2032.
Georgi Baev is an artist with a vivid and strong attachment to the seascape, developing his own unique style - free, expressive, and modern. In his early works, he strives for simplification and generalization, while in his later years, he moves away from ideological clichés and direct imitation of nature, orienting himself towards an abstract-lyrical language of form and stylization of landscape fragments.
Baev is the recipient of prestigious awards, including the "Johann Gottfried Herder" in 1986 and the "Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master" in 1972. He was also an Honorary Citizen of Burgas in 1998, with numerous regional, national, and international accolades.
The exhibition in Berlin will present works from different periods of the artist, highlighting his creative genius and significant contribution to Bulgarian and world art. The event supports Burgas' candidacy for the European Capital of Culture in 2032.
