Burgas councillor Marieta Timneva-Rohova has formally asked mayor Dimitar Nikolov how far the project to repair the road from the Tovarna Gara junction to the Dolno Ezerovo district has got. The work is expected to cost about €35m.

The project covers nearly 4.3 km of road III-9008 Burgas – Bratovo. In January 2026 the council decided that Burgas would pay €2m for the reconstruction. It is still unclear where the rest of the money will come from and how much the state will cover.

The request says the road is badly worn and heavily used. Its poor state makes it hard for people to reach Dolno Ezerovo, Lozovo and the industrial zones of Burgas. Residents of both districts filed a petition and want urgent reconstruction.

Timneva-Rohova asks whether the city and the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) have signed an agreement on joint funding. If not, she wants to know why it is delayed and how the talks are going. She also asks whether the project is in API's 2026 investment programme and whether state money is likely in the coming years.

She wants to know if the investment design is ready, what approvals it needs, and how far the detailed development plan (PUP) has got. She also asks whether private land will be expropriated, how many plots will be affected and what extra costs there may be.

Another group of questions is about the city's money. The councillor asks whether €2m is set aside in the 2026 budget and how much of it is already secured. She also wants to know what the city will do if API asks for a bigger share or the state money does not arrive on time.

Timneva-Rohova says the request aims to let the council learn how the project is really moving and what the city and the state have promised. She wants a written answer to all the questions, with the documents attached.

The councillor also asks how much money for the road the mayor will propose in the city's 2027 budget and capital programme, which are coming up.
