Tragic incident in the area of Ekzarh Yosif

A severe traffic accident blocked traffic on the critical Ruse – Byala section this morning. A report of the crash was received shortly after 9:30 a.m., with multiple Emergency Medical Services, fire department, and police teams dispatched to the scene.

According to initial information, the collision occurred between a heavy-duty truck with Bulgarian registration and a minivan with Ukrainian license plates.

Unfortunately, the impact was fatal for three of the passengers in the minivan. According to information from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Ruse, a family with children was traveling in the van. The injured have been transported to the Ruse hospital, and as of now, there is still no official information regarding their medical condition.

Traffic organization

At the moment, traffic in the section between the village of Ekzarh Yosif and the junction for Dve Mogili remains stopped:

  • For passenger cars: A detour route has been introduced through Dve Mogili – Ivanovo – Bozhichen – Basarbovo – Ruse.
  • For heavy-duty vehicles: Traffic is completely suspended. Trucks are waiting on site, which has led to the formation of kilometer-long queues in both directions.

Work continues to clarify the causes of the incident. Drivers are urged to exercise increased caution and follow the instructions of the police teams on site.
