Hundreds of bikers rode through Burgas today in a "silent" procession to remember colleagues killed on the road. The column set off at exactly 12:00 from the space outside the Pantheon in the Sea Garden and passed along the city's main boulevards.

Organizers from the Burgas biker club New Race MCC set one rule: zero noise, no revving engines and no risky stunts. The ride kept strict discipline throughout, under the slogan "For their memory" and the message "We are people, not 'donors'." Alongside club members, bikers from across the region joined the column.

The Burgas event is part of a national campaign called "A day to remember bikers killed on the road and support injured riders." The idea comes from Bulgarian Motorcycle Media, and the campaign began in 2016. Through it, bikers are also pushing for more tolerance between car drivers and motorcyclists.

New Race MCC president Atanas Kirov said that, based on figures from the last two years, bikers themselves bear most of the blame for crashes, not car drivers. "Young people on bikes need to understand that riding at 200 or 300 km/h isn't what matters," he said.

Kirov called for more attention to instructors and to how young riders are trained and prepared, along with more talk about safety, visits to schools, and teaching children to follow the rules and the law. "The number of falls should equal the number of times you get back up," he added.
