The legend of Bulgarian athletics, Stefka Kostadinova, announced that she is leaving the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections on behalf of DPS - New Beginning.
Kostadinova will take the necessary steps to terminate her powers as chair of the BOC in accordance with the organization's statute and current legislation.
She highlighted her 20-year work at the helm of the BOC, emphasizing the successes of Bulgarian sport on the Olympic stage. Kostadinova shared that she puts the interests of sport above her personal ambitions.
Kostadinova believes that now is the time to pass on her experience and contribute to the development of sport and Bulgaria through political activity. She thanked DPS for their trust and emphasized that Olympic principles do not allow her to remain at the helm of the BOC.
