By mid-December this year, drone management simulators will be deployed in all military formations in the country. This was announced to media representatives by the commander of the Land Forces, Major General Deyan Deshkov, at the "Lyulyak" training ground near Stara Zagora. The atmosphere at the training ground, under the clear autumn sun, created a tense atmosphere as journalists prepared for the event.
Major General Deshkov explained that the purchased drones are currently in the process of distribution. "The distribution to the formations and the start of operation are forthcoming", he noted.
The commander of the Land Forces added that the deliveries of different types of drones, intended for reconnaissance and surveillance, are continuing. "Procedures are also underway for the purchase of FPV drones and so-called loitering or kamikaze drones, which are for greater distances", he also said. According to him, the aim is for the new systems, which will include training elements, to be mastered by the personnel of the army. "Because our experience shows that acquisition is only 10 percent of the entire process. Delivery and assimilation by the personnel is the basis. Until you master an instrument, it cannot do its job", Major General Deshkov emphasized.
Regarding the rearmament of the Bulgarian army, the general shared that the procedure conducted by the Ministry of Defense for the selection of new equipment - a pistol, has already been completed. A framework agreement has been signed for the purchase of a "Springfield Armory" pistol for the Land Forces. "Several thousand pieces will be purchased", Major General Deshkov specified, adding that the funding for this purpose is expected to be included in next year's budget.
"We already have ammunition for this pistol in our warehouses for several years to come. For this reason, preparation can begin immediately upon its receipt", Major General Deshkov pointed out. He added that the Ministry of Defense is starting a procedure for the selection of a sniper kit, including not only the rifle, but also everything needed for a sniper team.
