Simeon Asparuhov presents his new book "33 Days and Nights" today at 6.30pm at the Peyo Yavorov Regional Library in Burgas. Entry is free.

This story follows our earlier report on the stage reading from "33 Days and Nights", announced on 28 September.

The book contains poetry, prose and philosophical reflections. Actress Desi Mincheva-Todorova is the evening's guest and will read selected texts on stage. The author, the actress and the audience will then talk about literature, the different ways of reading a text, and its life beyond the page. The evening is part of a visit by "Biblioteka Bulgaria" to Burgas and brings together literature and theatre.

The book has 33 chapters, and the author says the reference to the age of Christ in the title is deliberate. The title has occupied him for many years.

"I wanted to tell the story of the life I know so far in 33 chapters, like the 33 years of Christ's life," he told Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

Asparuhov says the book gathers his truths and, in part, the conclusions he has reached, because life takes us to unusual places and brings us strange events and people.

"These are my encounters with people in life and with life itself, which sends us to the most unusual places," he told BNR.

Kamelia Kondova edited the book, and the illustrations are by Monika Komarnitska.

Asparuhov runs "Biblioteka Bulgaria" and is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers. He has written poems, short stories, impressions and miniatures. Besides writing, he works in photography, visual art and graphic design, and he runs a music blog. As an editor, he has worked on several poetry books by contemporary authors, and he writes annotations and reviews for Bulgarian writers. On the publisher's official page, he interviews and presents artists, painters, writers, musicians and photographers.
