Radev on the departure of Georgi Kandev

Immediately after it became clear that Georgi Kandev wished to be released from the ranks of the Ministry of Interior, President Rumen Radev invited him to a meeting. According to the head of state, Kandev cited solely and exclusively personal motives for his decision, denying any professional reasons.

"This Facebook post was a surprise," commented Radev regarding the way Kandev announced his resignation on social media.

Relations within the Ministry of Interior

According to the Prime Minister, Kandev expressed great satisfaction with his work at the Ministry of Interior and his constructive relationship with Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev. Various options for his successor as Chief Secretary are currently being considered.

Reform in the judicial system

Rumen Radev also emphasized the need for urgent changes in the justice system:

  • Adoption of the Judiciary Act.
  • Determination of rules for the election of new members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
  • Swift election of a new Prosecutor General following the renewal of the SJC.

The goal is for the procedures to be finalized as quickly as possible in order to guarantee stability in the judicial system.
