Boom in electric mobility in the EU
Data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) shows steady growth of 5.7% in the EU new car market in the first half of 2026. The trend is clear – consumers are increasingly choosing electrified vehicles.
Hybrid cars account for 37.3% of the market, while fully electric models reach a share of 20.7%.
The market in Bulgaria: Electric revolution
Bulgaria reports significant progress in the transition to green mobility. The total number of new registrations in the country increased by 7.9% to 25,957. Key highlights:
- Electric vehicles (BEV): 95.8% growth (2,029 registrations).
- Hybrids (HEV): 105% increase (1,607 registrations).
- Plug-in hybrids (PHEV): 75.8% jump (480 registrations).
An interesting fact is that while gasoline cars in Bulgaria saw a slight decline of 3%, diesel vehicles recorded a growth of 11.6%.

- Volkswagen Group: 1,559,974 registrations (+2.6%).
- Stellantis: 965,475 registrations (+6%).
