The Prosecutors' College of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) made an important decision that will have an impact on the work of the judicial system. The College relieved Daniela Taleva of her key function as a prosecutor in charge of investigating crimes allegedly committed by the Chief Prosecutor and his deputies.
This release, which comes after two full years during which Taleva performed this delicate task, was ordered from December 7th. It was on this date that the specially appointed mandate given to the ad hoc prosecutor expired. From the very beginning, this position was announced as temporary, with the aim of ensuring the independence of investigations related to senior magistrates.
The decision of the Prosecutors' College has its legal consequences, and is of utmost importance for Taleva's future in the judicial system. It will be sent to the Judges' College of the SJC, which in turn must take steps to reinstate her as a judge at the Sofia City Court (SCC). This is a standard procedure, given her previous professional experience and position.

It is extremely important to note the way in which this decision was made. It was unanimously supported by all members of the Prosecutors' College, which shows cohesion on the matter. In addition, the decision was made without debate, which probably indicates prior agreement or a lack of serious objections.
