On June 1 - International Children's Day, the State Agency for Refugees at the Council of Ministers (SAR) organized festive events in the registration and reception centers in the cities of Sofia and Harmanli. The young participants seeking international protection participated in musical and sports games and received many surprises and gifts provided by partners such as the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC), UNICEF and the Bulgarian Food Bank.
Part of the celebration was the award ceremony for the winners of the children's drawing competition "My Childhood", in which the children showed their world through the eyes of hope and imagination. The prizes for the winners were presented personally by the Chairman of the SAR Mariana Tosheva, the Deputy Chairperson Yanita Manolova, the UNICEF Deputy Representative for Bulgaria Ramiz Behbudov, and the Head of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bulgaria Radoslav Stamenkov.
In her greeting, Mariana Tosheva emphasized that regardless of origin, language or religion, all children are significant and have the right to their special place in the world. She wished the young participants to be strong, good to each other and never stop believing in themselves.
All participants received encouragement and certificates, and the day passed with many smiles and shared emotions. The organizers expressed gratitude to all partners, employees and volunteers who contributed to the success of the celebration, because childhood deserves care, regardless of where each child comes from.
