Over 550,000 people will receive a one-time financial support payment of 50 euros through the new "Inflation Check" measure, for which a budget of 30 million euros has been allocated. Social Minister Natalia Efremova announced this during a briefing at the Council of Ministers following a working meeting regarding measures against high fuel prices. The initiative aims to guarantee basic social security for low-income individuals and families living below the poverty line.

The Social Assistance Agency will begin disbursing the funds as early as next month via bank card transfer or through the mail. Citizens will not need to submit applications, as the eligibility check will be conducted automatically. The Minister emphasized that car ownership will not be a requirement to receive the aid, as low-income families do not always have access to such a means of transport.

According to Efremova, the aid will be targeted at eight different social groups. These include:

  • individuals and youth without parental care;
  • citizens receiving targeted heating assistance;
  • families raising children with permanent disabilities;
  • children being raised by relatives or in foster families;
  • war invalids and war victims.

The decision on inflation checks will have a direct impact on socially vulnerable families in Burgas and the entire region.

Regarding measures to support agricultural producers and the business sector in relation to rising fuel prices, information was also provided by Economic Minister Aleksandar Pulev and Agricultural Minister Plamen Abrovski.
