Each of the 55 children supported by the interior ministry received 1,500 euros for the new school year. They are children of ministry staff who died or were hurt on duty. The money came from the account of a national charity campaign that helps these children, run under the patronage of the interior minister.

Giving support for the first day of school has been a tradition for years.

The money comes from public donations made by text message and cash contributions, as well as from interior ministry staff who give part of their salary every month.

The ministry thanked the donors, saying they are a source of support for children who have lost a parent.
