Road conditions and repairs on July 15: Watch out for motorway restrictions

Current road accident data

Over the past 24 hours, 25 serious road accidents have been registered in the country, resulting in three deaths and 29 injuries. In Sofia, traffic remains heavy with 29 minor and five serious accidents.

Traffic organization on highways

Attention: Road works on the Trakia, Hemus, and Struma highways necessitate temporary speed restrictions and lane narrowing.

Key repairs:

• Trakia Motorway: Extensive marking works in the Sofia, Pazardzhik, and Stara Zagora regions. Speed limits reduced to 80-100 km/h.
• Hemus Motorway: Repair works in the area of Boaza – Dermantsi and a restriction for heavy goods vehicles over 12.5 tons until the end of 2027.
• Struma Motorway: Temporary closure of the Blagoevgrad and Zhelnitsa tunnels for technical inspection on the night of July 15 to 16, with a detour route provided via road I-1.

Mountain passes and restrictions

As of today, the Varbishki, Zlatishki, and Pamporovo passes remain closed to all vehicles. Significant restrictions for heavy goods vehicles have been introduced on the Petrohan and Shipka passes.
