Bonito is selling for 6 euros a kilo at the Krasnodar fish market in Burgas, where it now has a permanent spot on the stalls. Sellers get fresh fish in every morning.

The long-awaited autumn fish is a Burgas dinner-table favourite, and shoppers like it for the price.

The stalls also carry other seafood, including imports from Greece. Small mackerel costs 8 euros a kilo, and large horse mackerel 10. Goby goes for 7 euros, and squid and octopus for 9 each.

Gilt-head bream and fresh Black Sea shark fillet cost 10 euros a kilo, while catfish is 7. Sturgeon head costs 5 euros a kilo, sturgeon roe 10, and fresh sea bass ranges from 11 to 16 euros.

Fish-product makers are selling whipped roe spread for 2.50 euros a kilo.
