Mayor Dimitar Nikolov proposes that Burgas Municipality apply with the project “The Youth of Burgas – the Future Starts Now“ under the Program for Financing Youth Centers in the Republic of Bulgaria (2026–2028) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The report with the proposal will be considered at the upcoming session of the Municipal Council.

Burgas Municipality is an eligible candidate after the successful implementation of the project “Creation of the Youth International Center Burgas“, funded by the program “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Improved Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups“.

The new project proposal aims to encourage the participation and social inclusion of young people aged 15–29 through activities that support personal development, active citizenship and the acquisition of social and life skills.

Among the main highlights of the project “The Youth of Burgas – the Future Starts Now“ are: organization and holding of a youth academy for leadership and civic participation, innovative youth laboratories (Youth Labs), the forum “Young People Speak“, a youth talent festival, volunteer campaigns and initiatives in the neighborhoods and constituent settlements of the municipality, an intercultural youth festival, and more.

The project is in line with the priorities of the National Youth Strategy (2021–2030) and with its implementation, Burgas Municipality reinforces its commitment to creating a sustainable and supportive environment for young people, in which they can develop their potential, be active citizens and contribute to the future of the city.
