The President has issued decrees appointing new leadership within the structures of the Bulgarian Armed Forces. The documents were published in an extraordinary issue of the "State Gazette".
Colonel Hristiyan Hristov will take over as Director of the Military Police Service, effective September 19. Colonel Lyudmil Valkov has been appointed Chief of Staff of the Air Force, assuming the position on September 1. The decrees mandate that the Minister of Defence be responsible for their implementation. The "State Gazette" also published a decree appointing Captain (N) Bozhidar Ivanov as Chief of Staff of the Navy, effective September 1. Prior to this, at a ceremony at "Dondukov" 2, Iliana Iotova promoted Captain (N) Bozhidar Ivanov to the senior officer rank of "Flotilla Admiral".
Currently, the three appointees are already serving in their respective positions. The procedure began on August 12, when the government proposed that the head of state issue the decrees for these appointments.
