Nissan Leaf is the "World's Best Compact Car" according to WWCOTY

The Japanese brand Nissan proudly announced that the all-new Nissan Leaf has been awarded the prestigious title of "Best Compact Car in the World" by an international jury made up entirely of women - automotive journalists.

The "Women's Worldwide Car of the Year" (WWCOTY) competition is the only automotive award presented entirely by women working as automotive journalists. A Bulgarian - Ina Georgieva, editor-in-chief of the publication "Your Business", also participates in the jury.

The new Nissan Leaf is the third generation of the pioneer of mass-market electric vehicles, and the award is recognition for its elegant design, impressive engine dynamics, intuitive technologies, as well as its historical role in the transition of consumers to electric mobility.

The WWCOTY award distinguishes cars with the best performance in areas that are particularly important for everyday drivers - safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, advantages, and impact on the environment. The jury is composed of 84 women - automotive journalists from 54 countries, according to which the cars are not specific to a certain gender, but rather evaluates the candidates based on universal criteria that are important for all drivers.

The new Nissan Leaf combines an elegant aerodynamic design, an advanced electric drive system with extended range, thanks to the battery options with a capacity of 52 kWh or 75 kWh, and intuitive technology for connected and confident driving.

For seamless everyday driving, the new Nissan Leaf is equipped with the latest Google technology. The Google built-in package includes Google Maps, Play Store, from where applications can be downloaded directly into the car, as well as Google Assistant, which allows users to control navigation, air conditioning, and media without using their hands, as well as to synchronize favorite applications and services.

The "Women's Worldwide Car of the Year" (WWCOTY) competition was created in 2009 by New Zealand journalist Sandy Myhre and works to establish the voice of women in the automotive industry and to draw attention to the importance of mobility as a key factor in the modern world. Sales of the new Nissan Leaf in Bulgaria are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
