The government of Bulgaria expresses deep concern over the growing tension between Israel and Iran in the Middle East. The country calls for an immediate reduction of tension and respect for international law.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following with concern the latest events in the Middle East, where the escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran is creating a new and dangerous dynamic in the region. The recent revelations by the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran has for the first time in 20 years admitted to numerous gaps regarding its undeclared nuclear material and unauthorized activities further exacerbate the situation.

Bulgaria calls on all parties to show the utmost restraint and immediately reduce the tension. The country firmly stands behind the need to respect international law and the UN Charter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that a lasting solution can only be achieved through diplomatic dialogue and the restoration of negotiation channels. In this spirit, Bulgaria supports the efforts of the European Union and the international community to restore stability in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant contact with our diplomatic representations in the affected areas and is taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of Bulgarian citizens.
