Ministry of Interior Takes Measures to Secure the CSKA - Levski Football Derby

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is taking measures to protect public order in connection with today's football derby between the teams of CSKA and Levski, the MoI press center announced.

The football match is at 4:00 PM at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia. Sectors A and G are reserved for "red" fans. At the request of the law enforcement authorities, blocks 16, 17, 18, 34, 35 and 36 will not be put on sale.

A security zone will be built around the stadium, and police officers will carry out the access control regime at several checkpoints. The gates will open at 2:00 PM. In order to avoid crowding of spectators, the police urge those who wish to take advantage of this earlier time.

There will be checks to identify perpetrators of antisocial behavior, as well as people with imposed bans on attending sporting events, the MoI also informs. At the checkpoints, law enforcement officers will also check for carrying prohibited items and objects – firearms, pyrotechnic articles, knives, batons, brass knuckles, bottles, etc. Minors will be admitted to the stadium only with an adult companion and after a pre-filled declaration, which can also be downloaded from the Internet.

The commitment to protect the sporting event is with security companies, and the Sofia police – to set up reserves for actions if necessary and to assist the organizer's activity.

Before, during and after the football match, police officers will monitor the preservation of public order and the prevention of antisocial behavior in the territory of the capital.

In connection with the increased spectator interest, difficulties in road traffic in the central city part may arise, it may be necessary to temporarily stop it, but it will be restored when the need disappears, the Ministry of Interior points out.

The launching of airborne vehicles around the two buildings of the National Assembly, the Council of Ministers, the building of the presidential institution and around the Vasil Levski National Stadium in the space of Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd., Yavorov Alley, Dragan Tsankov Blvd., Graf Ignatiev Str. and Vasil Levski Blvd. is prohibited. In case of non-compliance with the ban, the respective administrative measures provided for in the law will be taken against the operators of unmanned aerial vehicles, the announcement also states.
