The Judges' College of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) made a key decision at its meeting today, appointing Marinika Cherneva as acting chair of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC). The decision was adopted unanimously, underlining the importance of the appointment within the key judicial institution. Nine votes "for" reflected the broad support for the new administrative head.
Today was marked by changes in the leadership of the SAC, a key court that considers administrative cases and provides oversight of the decisions of administrative bodies. The atmosphere in the meeting room was tense, given the importance of the decision being made.
The current acting chairman of the court, Georgi Cholakov, whose term as administrative head expired in 2024, will now perform his duties as an ordinary judge in the SAC.
