Krum Zarkov: The victory is over apathy and the feeling of resignation

There are losses more worthy than any victory and there are victories that carry a huge responsibility. I am aware of this responsibility and I consider this victory a common cause, it is not a victory of one over another, it is not a victory of one chairman over another, it is a victory over apathy and over the feeling of resignation. This was stated by the new chairman of BSP Krum Zarkov to the delegates of the Congress of the party in his first speech after being announced as elected.

He thanked most sincerely for the trust he was given for the highest honor of every socialist – to take responsibility for the leadership of BSP. Zarkov also thanked his opponents, who proved that politics can be done on principle, without low blows.

This victory would not have been possible if there was no life in BSP, no strength, no belonging, no family, he pointed out. According to him, this is a huge signal, a strong sign first to the party and its members and sympathizers, not only that nothing is lost, but the great thing is now beginning. This is a sign to our party and it will be heard and understood, because they see that we have heard and understood them, Zarkov added.

Our responsibility, in addition to the words, is to follow with actions, I am ready with them and they will be quick, said the new leader of BSP. The people who are with me are ready with them and they will help me, he added.

Krum Zarkov commented that today a sign was also sent to all Bulgarians, a sign to everyone who thinks that there is no point in fighting, that politics is dirty work, that it is not possible if they do not point you out, that it is not possible if they do not make you, that it is not possible if you do not agree. It is possible and we proved it today, he said. Let every Bulgarian citizen know from now on that there is a party in Bulgaria that has traditions and a future, in which democracy is not just a word, is not just a procedure, but a way of functioning, Zarkov said. There are mistakes, there is sanctioning of mistakes, there is respect and this is the normal political process, this process should soon take over the whole of Bulgaria, he added. And if until yesterday they pointed at us with their finger, today they should give us an example. We will infect the whole country with a different way of doing politics, said the new chairman of BSP.

Many surprises were expected for these elections, the first surprise is that the surprise came from BSP, said Krum Zarkov. He pointed out that from now on there is a lot of work ahead, they will meet with citizens and humbly but ambitiously state what they want to achieve for Bulgaria. The path is difficult, but we will walk this path together and we will go far, Zarkov said.

After that, the new leader of BSP closed the Congress session and announced "the beginning of a new day".
