Heavy traffic on Sunday: The situation on E-79
The heavy traffic from the past weekend continues on Sunday. The roads towards Sofia and Greece remain extremely busy, and drivers are facing kilometer-long queues.
"We have to leave early in the morning so we can get home, otherwise there is a lot of traffic, especially today it's a nightmare," travelers share.
Traffic organization near Simitli
Due to the high volume of cars, reversible traffic has been introduced at the Simitli junction:
- Two lanes are open towards Sofia.
- One lane handles traffic from the Kulata border checkpoint.
- One lane serves those traveling from Bansko and the region towards the capital.
Safety advice from the Road Infrastructure Agency
The Road Infrastructure Agency (API) makes an urgent appeal to all drivers:
- Drive at a reasonable speed, adapted to road conditions.
- Maintain the necessary distance.
- Do not attempt risky overtakes.
- Be patient and tolerant on the road.
Despite the intense traffic towards Kulata, many Bulgarians continue to choose our southern neighbor for their summer vacation.
