Kapi the Capybara: From internet star to face of Eurovision
Kapi the capybara, one of the most beloved residents of the Burgas Zoo, is the official proposal for the mascot of the Eurovision Song Contest. The initiative comes from the zoo's team, who believe that the animal's popularity transcends the borders of South America.
"KAPI – CALM. CHARM. EUROVISION" – this is the motto with which the zoo presents its candidate.
Why is the capybara the perfect choice?
- Symbol of harmony: Capybaras are known for their calmness, friendliness, and ability to interact with different species.
- Global phenomenon: The animal's image is a true internet hit, present in music, toys, and social media across Europe.
- Message of unity: Kapi's qualities perfectly match the spirit of Eurovision – uniting cultures and people through music.
This is not Burgas' first attempt to propose its own emblem for the upcoming event. Earlier, the State Puppet Theatre nominated the "Euro-gull," creating an interesting competition over who will welcome the contest's guests to the seaside city.

Абе, яко е! Сериозно, много добра идея от зоопарка в Бургас. Капибарата Kapi наистина изглежда много спокойна и дружелюбна - точно такова послание трябва да има Евровизията. Дано я изберат, ще стане супер талисманче! 🇧🇬🇪🇺 И да, някой да е виждал нещо по-оригинално напоследък? Браво на Бурга 🙄
