The main task of the future caretaker government should be to guarantee fair elections and prevent a repetition of the practices of the previous caretaker cabinet. According to him, there are “many arguments” in support of the need for a strong and independent caretaker cabinet that would create conditions for a fair vote. Mirchev pointed out that fair elections were not held under the previous caretaker cabinet – a circumstance that, according to him, was also established by the Constitutional Court. Mirchev added that this cabinet served the “corruption model of Peevski–Borisov”.
