Gyurov and Mitsotakis Discussed the Middle East and Bilateral Cooperation

Challenges related to a possible deterioration of the situation in the Middle East were the focus of a conversation between caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This was announced by the government press service.

The two discussed topics related to security and measures against rising fuel prices in connection with the situation in the Middle East. The prime ministers agreed that further deepening of excellent bilateral and regional cooperation is of key importance for the two countries to face such challenges as prepared as possible.

During the conversation, Gyurov expressed high appreciation for the quick and positive response from Greece to Bulgaria's request for assistance in the field of air defense, according to what was agreed between the defense ministers Atanas Zapryanov and Nikos Dendias.

"Your support is an example of European and neighborly solidarity at a key moment. In Greece, we see a very close partner with common values, who is facing similar regional challenges. This partnership covers a wide range of areas – foreign affairs and regional security, energy and transport, digital connectivity and infrastructure," said caretaker Prime Minister Gyurov.

At the bilateral meeting, Mitsotakis and Gyurov also discussed measures to limit the negative impact of rising energy prices on world markets in connection with the conflict in the Middle East. The two stressed the importance of coordinated actions to stabilize energy supplies and ensure security in the region.

Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov participated in the Second Nuclear Energy Summit, which is taking place in Paris. The Prime Minister was welcomed by the President of France Emmanuel Macron and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, the Council of Ministers announced.

They informed that during the Second Nuclear Energy Summit in Paris, Prime Minister Gyurov spoke with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
