Civic Movement "Shine" Enters Elections as a Coalition: The Cause is Saving Human Life and Justice

Nikolay Popov, father of the deceased 12-year-old Siyana, announced on BNT that the civic movement “Siyanie” will participate in the elections as a coalition with already registered parties, which will also be called “Siyanie”.

The parties will be in the background, they give us the opportunity to realize our goals and cause, said Popov. This will be a cause, it will not be politics, he stated. Regarding his decision, Popov commented that he practically has no choice because politicians do not want to hear him and talk to him about the problems he is fighting for.

The only parties that agreed to accept our cause, our demands, are “Volt” and “Society for New Bulgaria”. These people did not make any demands. They said that they would step back and give the word and the political instrument into the hands of the citizens, said Popov. They will have representatives on the lists because I asked for it, so that they can also bear responsibility, but they will be quite limited. The lists will give preference to non-governmental organizations like “Angels on the Road”, to new faces and to young people who are not burdened by the system, said Nikolay Popov.

Popov said that as of today in Sofia he is starting to collect signatures for registration. I believe that this is not a problem at all, as there are many people who support me. The lists will be mainly on a civic basis. You will see a representative sample of society in this movement, not people who are connected by politics, but who are connected by the cause of saving human life, for justice and for lasting and visible change. We will most likely enter parliament, at least this is what people's intentions show and what I personally feel. I will enter parliament, do my job, and when I see that it is successful and is imposed, I will get out of there, said Nikolay Popov.
