The Council of Ministers has approved a proposal to the National Assembly for the ratification by law of an amendment to the Framework Agreement on the Industrial Cooperation Program for F-16 Block 70 fighter jets. The news was confirmed by the government's press office.

The purpose of the change is to launch a new project that will upgrade the existing industrial capacity for maintaining components of the aircraft systems in our country. This will allow Bulgaria to perform independent logistical support and operation of the equipment throughout its entire lifecycle.

The project's implementation includes the transfer of technology and specific know-how. This is expected to increase the competitiveness of the defense industry and enable the adoption of products and services with high potential for the international market. The cabinet had already approved the amendment to the project under the framework agreement with the company Lockheed Martin Global INC at the end of May.
