The euro cost $1.1355 on September 30, according to the European Central Bank's reference rate. That's down from $1.1378 a day earlier. One dollar now buys 0.8807 euros, up from 0.8789.
The pound was worth 0.85463 euros, or 1.1701 euros per pound. The Swiss franc traded at 0.9478 per euro (1.0551 euros per franc), and the Japanese yen at 178.27 per euro (0.005609 euros per yen).
Among neighbouring currencies, the Romanian leu stood at 5.2788 per euro (0.1894 euros per leu). The Polish zloty was at 4.3690 (0.2289), the Czech koruna at 24.440 (0.04092), the Hungarian forint at 366.20 (0.002731) and the Turkish lira at 55.6596 (0.01797).
The Danish krone traded at 7.4755 per euro (0.133770), the Swedish krona at 11.3310 (0.08825), the Norwegian krone at 10.9015 (0.09173) and the Icelandic krona at 137.00 (0.007299).
The Canadian dollar was at 1.6105 per euro (0.6209), the Australian dollar at 1.6297 (0.6136), the New Zealand dollar at 2.0115 (0.4971), the Singapore dollar at 1.4503 (0.6895) and the Hong Kong dollar at 8.9095 (0.1122). The Chinese yuan stood at 7.6130 (0.1314) and the South Korean won at 1,539.06 (0.0006497). The Indian rupee was at 108.8205 (0.009189) and the Indonesian rupiah at 20,315.34 (0.00004922). The Malaysian ringgit traded at 4.6306 (0.2160), the Philippine peso at 71.204 (0.01404) and the Thai baht at 38.113 (0.02624).
The Israeli shekel was at 3.4901 per euro (0.2865), the Mexican peso at 20.5816 (0.04859), the Brazilian real at 5.9077 (0.1693) and the South African rand at 18.6123 (0.05373).
The rates are published on the websites of the ECB and Bulgaria's central bank, the BNB. The BNB releases them under Article 12, paragraph 1 of the Currency Law, and says they are meant only for the purposes set out in that law. They should not, the bank says, be used as a basis for striking deals.
